Tekapo Slide 2006

Some folks at Nike had seen the work I did for Birkenstock & asked me to create something similar for the  Sportswear division. Rather than duplicate my previous work, I felt there was an opportunity to improve the function of a simple slide. I created an adjustable diagonal strap system for improved fit. The deep contoured midsole was made using chunks of EVA foam which gave it a unique aesthetic, great comfort & flexibility.

The Tekapo slide was launched in Japan where it gained a following through honeyee.com. Then it became popular with sneaker-heads & featured promiently on websites like highsnobriety.com & hypebeast.com. It’s still for sale, mostly in Japan.
