New York Times, Dec 2010.

The Nike Free Run officially cracked the style code in 2010. Mick Jagger sported his own personal pair in the  New York Times style section , where they also made intelligent commentary about the lack of stylish performance shoes.  My lead designer Kasey Jarvis drew most of the lines & then bailed from Nike. Talk about quitting while you’re on top. Nice one KJ! This project was at the core of my creative direction for the Nike Running group, so it was great to see it succeed on multiple fronts.

New York Times, 2007:

Steve Nash on the cover of the NYT Sport Magazine.  He won two MVP awards wearing Nike Zoom BB sneakers. Later this product became the 'Nike Trashtalk' when it was rengineered to be more ecologically sustainable. Nike Trashtalk got the IDEA (International Design Excellence Award) Best in Show Award & was published in Business Week for best designs of 2008. Nash was stoked with the shoes & asked for all of his footwear to be designed this way.

The Oprah Winfrey Show, Dec 2010

The Free Run landed on Oprah’s Favorite Things of 2010 list and was simultaneously applauded by serious runners and not-so-serious runners alike. It's a rare sequel that was actually more successful than the original model. Oprah's endorsement crashed servers at Nike.

New York TImes, April 2012.

Check out this intelligent commentary about the state of footwear design. Specifically, the lack of stylish performance shoes.  When you're a Creative Director it's great to read stuff like this, because it reinforces common sense, which can be hard to find when you're in the middle of a noisy business.

Sneaker Freaker Magazine

In late 2011 I created a special version of the famous Air Force 1 shoe. It was a super premium, bespoke offering that retails for $820. It landed on the cover of Sneaker Freaker Magazine in 2012.
