Born in Switzerland, I grew up in New Zealand and studied Industrial Design at Victoria University, where I later became an adjunct professor. In 1997 I relocated to California to snowboard and through a love of sports and the outdoors, started designing footwear. My clients included Hi-Tec Footwear, Birkenstock, Etnies, Burton Snowboards and Nike.

I joined the Nike design team in 2002 where I designed and lead teams creating a full spectrum of footwear, from cutting-edge performance to lifestyle. My designs & design direction can be found on the feet of the world’s best athletes, millions of everyday athletes and sneaker connoisseurs alike.

I have received numerous design & innovation awards from design, business and sporting groups + publications, including a Design of the Decade Award (2010) from the Industrial Designers Society of America for environmentally sustainable design.

In addition to my 8 Design Leadership roles at Nike Inc, I served as a Business Leader for NikeiD.com, growing that business to a record high while gaining valuable business, brand and e-commerce experience. Up to Jan 2024 I held the role of VP/Global Footwear Creative Director of Brand Jordan at Nike Inc, punctuating an epic 22 year career at Nike.

I’m currently SVP of Product Design at Kizik Footwear where I’m creating and scaling hands-free innovations in footwear, building a design team, setting creative direction & designing.

I live in Portland Oregon and travel widely. Backcountry snowboarding, mountain biking and outdoor adventure are my recreational passions. I’m married and have two young sons.

This website is both an archive of individual creation and a snapshot of great teamwork. While I have designed many of these products, I've also created, grown & lead many teams to create them. Sometimes I set direction and my team runs with minimal input. Other times I get involved in the details from inception to production to sales.
